I got a can of this off the single shelf at a Kroger just down the road from south metro ice. It poured a hazy copper with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had pine resin notes. The taste leans bitter but is still drinkable. There is a strong pine presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Not bad not great, nothing special to note a very standard ipa. Not overly flavored not trying to be something extra. Great everyday beer.

Pours a hazed amber with one pinky of cream colored head. Okay lacing & head retention

S: Some bready & piney notes

T: Medicinal bitterness, slight sweetness, a little bit of leafy hop up front. Dryness, piney bitterness & a touch of sweet malt as this warms. Finshes with piney, woody bitterness with dryness

MF: Fairly thin body, minimal carbonation

Just not that good, a poor substitue for DFH's Pennsylvania Tuxedo, a chore to get through. On the the verge of a drainpour

A bitter, oil, with hop heavy flavor. Earthy goodness.

Taste rating in words: It's a pine tree, a few weeks after it's been in your entry, dealing with your life.

Pours a dusty particulate heavy, chill hazed deep gold with very light effervescence streaming up. The pour produces an aggressive, difficult to pour, billowy, foamy, lasting, off-white head that leaves a dense, volcano crater-like surface cap, heavy collar & a chunky coating of sticky Jack Frost lacing. Aroma is conifer volatile heavy from the spruce, herbal & earthy with caramel & lightly toasted malt, some citrus & spice. The spice dances in the nose & is slightly reminiscent of the sensation associated with ginger or chili pepper. I suspect this is a product of the spruce as I recall this being present in Dogfish Head's Pennsylvania Tuxedo. Taste is pale & caramel malt, heavy conifer, earthy herbal, grass, thin citrus & ginger/peppery as in the nose. The peppery note is prominent in the bitter finish & aftertaste. Very dry throughout. Aftertaste is conifer, malt, earthy herbal & medicinal. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, sandpaper prickliness, tongue coating & oily, with a very astringent aftertaste. The aftertaste is the most negative aspect of this brew to me. I noted the same aspect with Dogfish Head's Pennsylvania Tuxedo. It's just an opinion as all beer reviewing is but I feel that this is an example of a beer you will either like very much or find cloying & distasteful.

Appearance: Cloudy amber, with a nice frothy off-white head. Vapourous lace.

Aroma: Spruce and pine, with some citrus hops. Quite pleasant.

Taste: Bitter and light on the spruce among the pine and citrus hops profile. Very tasty, nonetheless.
