Touched by agave and laid down to slumber in tequila barrels is about as good a description that this barrel-aged German sour ale is going to get. With all things tequila finding its way into the culinary arts scene, there's no better taste to capture the character of true agave than that of Gose
Goodwood's El Gozador pours with a fine pale haze and a chrome color. Breaming with carbonation, the ale casts a champagne character on the session. Its tightly woven but short statured froth casts a scent of citrus, herb, hay, cider and chardonnay on the nose while its taste is supple with sourdough, saltwater taffy and margarita
Its arid maltiness lifts and the sourness seeps in as the middle palate draws near. Its crisp and refreshing taste invites a clean sourness of green apple, white grape, lime and lemon, along with hints of agave and kiwi. As its faint hops roll into those spicy oaken notes, a kiss of nuttiness and tequila persists while its finish is of soft burlap and worn balsa.
Light but a bit more moderate for sour ale, the beer stops shy of absolute sourness or dryness and allows a pillow of sourdough to roll onto its softly wheaten finish. The light funkiness of booze soaked oak allow for a linger of spice and earth perfume with a dry note note singing a short, sour and peppery symphony.

Good but not great.
Dark brown color.
Smells like oak barrels soaked with tequila.
Interesting set of flavors but not very strong. Definite wood barrel aging is present with a slight vinegar/gose flavor up front which transforms into a citrus/tequila finish. Very smooth. Good combination of flavors that work good together. I would like it better if the flavors had a little more punch to them.
