Shooting straight with beer drinkers, Goodwood knows that there's more to pale ale than the haze. Offering up a Belgian-styled IPA shows a well rounded portfolio that doesn't simply cater to trendy tastes. And that's so that there's no trouble here.
Trouble Shooter arrives at the table with a pale and golden hue that's held in a moderate haze while floating a soapy white froth. Gentle aromas of grassy spices, orchard fruit and nuanced wine scents float gently above a grain bed of honey, biscuit and wafer.
Remaining sweeter as the ale washes the middle palate, its honey malt and biscuit balance dictates much of the balance but a complement of estery pear, apple, citrus and peach add a fruitiness to the floral hops. A spicy followup of white pepper, coriander and orange peel lead into a balancing bitterness of fresh herb, grasses and a light peppery bite to close.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the beer's bubbly, racy and nearly winey finish complements the bitterness white the ale finishes slightly more hoppy than sweet.
