Solid two finger head of creamy white, good density, some dimpling, retention is above average, lacing is on the skinny side but sticks nicely. Deeply bronzed liquid with only a touch of haze, the glass bottle is almost completely filled with large bubbles which now and then launch upwards to the surface. Thick nose featuring a cord of wet, leafy dankness and roofing tar with a fairly matched opponent in caramel, butterscotch, pine sap, heavy on the malts, juicy mango, pineapple, apricot fruit scents, comes up short in terms of citrus or florality. Full-bodied, very creamy and soft feel, carbonation not a large factor, tends to massage more than tingle. Emphasizes the apricot, peach, guava to nectarine fruit but again does not whip up more than cursory pink grapefruit citrus notes. Pine, grainy with lower levels of caramel, toffee as here the bitterness elevates noticeably. Very leafy and herbaceous finish in spite of that creamy mouth feel. There’s a lot going on and it’s not always orchestrated on the same wavelength. If it pulled back the bitterness a little it would be easy to throw back a few, even allowing for the ABV.

On-tap at Preyer Brewing Company, Greensboro, NC

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has some light hues of amber along with a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, consistent leaving a short head covering the surface and lots of thick lacing running down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—grapefruit really stands out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has strong flavors of grapefruit along with a moderate amount of associated bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and quite crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice IPA, particularly if you like grapefruit flavors.

I'm sorry for not going full diagnostic on this beer... I just don't like it. I love IPA's in general... But not this one. Give me a Torpedo or Two Hearted any day over this. That said, I drank it.

Appearance: Pours hazy and amber with a nice head; great lacing

Smell: Malty and bitter, with caramel and earthy tones

Taste: Caramel forward with a growing earthy bitterness building through the middle; the bitterness continues to build in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Tastes more English to me than West Coast; not something I would seek out again

Look: It pours medium gold with an off white head. Head retention is excellent. It is fairly clear in appearance.

Smell: It has a tropical fruit aroma featured by papaya. There are low levels of lime and very low lemon.

Taste: The initial flavors are highlighted by papaya and a grainy sweet background. The lime and lemon flavors come through as secondary flavors and are more prominent in the finish. The bitterness is high, but not to the point of being unpleasant or sharp.

Feel: It has a medium body with a smooth texture that is ever so slightly slick.

Overall, this is a hop forward IPA highlight by papaya, lemon and lime. The combination works well throughout the tasting.
