On tap. Hazy yellow color with white head. Aroma has spicy and herbal notes with some sweet wheat malt. Taste follows sweet and spicy with wheat and yeast notes. Light body, quite effervescent.

A 330ml bottle bottled on 18th March 2016 and poured into a Riedel weizen glass.
Appearance: It poured a hazy orange colour with a three finger white head with decent retention and left sticky lacing.
Aroma: Citrusy lemon and strong floral notes with a hint of pineapple and sweet banana.
Taste: Strong floral and zesty citrus lemon with some grapefruit bitterness and orange on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: This was an interesting Hefeweizen with strong floral flavours and less banana and clove taste than what I normally find in Hefeweizen’s. I enjoyed the lemons but the floral was maybe a bit strong.

Big, volatile bubbles rush upwards in champagnesque streams to support a big, airy, pearl-ivory head. The body is a hazy (not murky) sunflower orange. The smell is very invigorating, mostly of fresh citrus oils, with a spark of hop resin and underneath it all, the smooth, ripe, yeasty aromas of a good, down-to-earth Bavarian weissbier.
When I read 'hopfen weisse' on the label, I made the mistake of translating it to 'wheat IPA' in my head. This isn't a full-on, fruity American-style IPA that happens to be cloudy and have wheat in it. Rather, this is a German hefeweizen that happens to be hoppy. It's got the clove, banana bread, and slight bread-dough yeastiness that hefes should have, but with a slightly more potent kick of hop bitterness. Unfortunately though, the hops nor the bergamot add much flavor beyond that bitterness; there's a hint of bitter orange but not much of the rosy, lemongrassy floral character I really love about bergamot. That said, it's a very tasty beer, and I especially love the carbonation and attenuation. It's drier and a little fizzier than most hefeweizens, which along with the hoppiness, help make it less heavy and glutinous. If it weren't a seasonal special (and just a tiny bit pricy) it could easily become a go-to fridge beer.
