Collaboration with The Veil Brewing Co.

The Original TIPA, in collaboration with The Veil Brewing.

Some say it travelled to earth from the farthest edge of the solar system. Others say it was formed by a cosmic explosion. No matter its origins, the legend of Chubbles continues to grow.

Our annual collaboration with The Veil is a supernova of modern hop flavours, brimming with ripe tropical fruits, yet powerfully dank and resinous. It was one of the first Triple IPAs we brewed, back in 2017, and remains a marker for our approach to this uncompromising and intensely aromatic style.

Revel in huge tropical aromas of juicy pineapple, mango and guava, then savour the flavours of slightly overripe mango and papaya with a background of honeydew melon. It’s chewy, almost sticky-sweet mouthfeel is complemented by a slight touch of pine that balances out the immense sweetness and perfectly rounds off every sip.

440ml can.
L: Opaque yellow with a darker yellow core. White lumps of suspended yeast. The cream head reduces quickly to a smear with a ring of lacing.
S: Overripe citrus with a piney, funky edge.
T: Dank and heavy mango, orange, papaya, peach, pineapple. Very tropical, overripe rather than fresh or zesty. Rich and alcoholic.
F: Full body, cloying mouthfeel, hot finish.
O: Accomplished but overblown. I allowed to warm but this might be better drunk fridge cold.

Cloudy cloudwater orange. Nice tight head. Smells of fruit, still can't name them. Taste is the same with a nice lingering fullness, very full but absolutely no hop burn or heat, wonderfully balanced. Light grassy bitterness finished with length. Great stuff.

Pours a hazy vibrant orange with soft, fine and soapy head.

Smell is juicy, sweet and intense with some herbal hints. Notes of mango, orange juice, grapefruit, pineapple, gooseberries, melon, tangerine and orange sorbet.

Taste is juicy, sweet and intense, just massive. Some warming booze and notes of mango, pineapple, gooseberries, melon, orange sorbet and lemongrass. Soft, but distinct bitterness and zero hop burn. Manages to be bright and drinkable despite being absolutely gargantuan.

Mouthfeel is full, chewy, soft and pillowy with good carbonation.

Overall, what a beer. Truly astounding balance, the best TIPA I've had.

First craft can I have ever had from the UK, gotta thank the guys in the #FPLBeerClub for getting this into my hands.

Chubbles pours an opaque, hazy golden orange with an eggshell colored head that leaves some minimal lacing. The smell is very juicy with mango, passion fruit and an abundance of stone fruit with sweet melon and pineapple. The taste is is full bodied and very soft across the palette. Big mango and passion fruit up front with some sweet fruits, a bit of yeast and grassy notes.

440ml Can from Cloudwater.com (£6.00):
An incredibly juicy & fruity beer that had some pleasant tropical flavours & a little resinous pine coming through but seemed to be balanced out nicely with a surprising amount of sweetness showing at points too. It was quite a dry offering with mango flavours dominating & some peaches sitting in the background with a few other light fruits & citrus flavours before some touches of warming alcohol showed nearer the end.

Tap @ Lost and Grounded, Bristol - Pours hazy golden with a small white foamy head. Medium carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma - Huge hits of pineapple and citrus. Taste - Sweet forefront with tropicals and citrus fruits. light bready malt notes, long lasting hoppy back with very little boozy content. Hides the ABV really well, A true hop monster and one to be respected not abused.

CAN
Glowing opaque pale orange with lumpy clingy eggshell can pour foam. 4.25
Pulpy fresh squeezed orange juice and mashed peaches, opening into tangerine zest. 4.75
A metric fuck-tonne of papaya, orange juice left out in the sun too long, lemon balm, grapefruit granata, mint, pineapple, underripe white melon, tangerine pith, slight grass, touch of piss and a hit of Juicyfruit. 4.25
Long lingering lemon zest.
Medium, creamy, a bit hot, oily. 4

Smells more like juiced oranges than any beer I’ve had. And there sure are a ton of hops, but they skew herbal green and sharp citrus more than you’d expect - not ultimately all that tropical. Not danks so much as musty peel. Body, while smooth, has to lose points for burn, even at 10%, verging on fusels. Full credit for layer upon layer of lupulin complexity and very Vermont without being your typical Cloudwater. But for a triple IPA, never really hits the stratosphere. 4

Poured to a BrewDog stemmed glass.

A: The body is almost perfect showing a matte yellow to orange coloration with lots of oat to provide this effect. The head is really minimal with no lacing at all. But the color is amazing.
S: Lots of mango, passionfruit and just a minor pineapple end to it.
T: Taste starts off with a lot of mango, passionfruit and ends with grapefruit. It's crazy as it is very very soft. This is like, taste-wise, one the best beers I've had this year. For a DIPA, it's very soft and gentle on every corner. Amazing.
M: Body is medium to high. Carbonation is medium but so velvety. Alcohol is noticeable on the sip. Bitterness is also soft.
O: I want to live inside this beer. It's crazy.

From can. Really hazy orange color with off-white head. Aroma is really juicy with ripe stonefruits, melon, some sweet pineapple notes. Sweet, oniony, fruity, tropical, juicy, milky yeast, light to medium grassy bitterness. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Really well made, juicy TIPA with very well hidden ABV.
