This double IPA takes inspiration from our much loved 2016 DIPA v3, whilst reflecting modern tastes and processes. In changes from our original recipe, Flaked Oats were added to the malt bill, bittering hops reduced by 25%, and the dry hop charge increased. A 24 g/L hopgun infusion of new season Citra BBC, backed up by Chinook, Mosaic, and Comet, brings this 2018 iteration in line with our current DIPAs. 8.5% ABV

Aroma Hops: Citra BBC, Chinook, Mosaic, Comet
Bittering Hop: Pilgrim CO2 Alpha Extract
Malts: Golden Promise, Flaked Oats, Dextrin Malt, Dextrose Monohydrate
Yeast: WLP095

Pint can from Colin. Milky orange golden pour, head fades. Aroma is fruity, tropical. Taste is more of the mango, citrus notes. Nice feel and consistency

CAN
Hazy goldenrod; mango, a bit of heat, and greasy leaf; Nilla wafer, ringing tangerine, big ganga, papaya puree, apricot + resin. Oliy with sorbet fizz.

Citra, Chinook, Mosaic, Comet

Like licking a tangerine, with some slight Mosaic scallion + Comet wild weed. Big-ish, doesn’t hide the ABV. Embiggens 3.0. Funny thing, though: after drinking some Other Half in the same session, this is not even close to what’s coming out of NYC. Still lovely stuff...

440ml Can from Cloudwater website (£5.50):
Strong & hop-filled, this one is dank & resinous with plenty tropical fruits coming through with both the nose & the taste; a good combination of citrus, apricot, mango & pineapple show with both. There was an addition of some papaya & some further background fruits to the taste & only a hint of the 8.5% abv. was showing with this one but the biggest letdown for me was the mouthfeel that seemed a little rough & sharp, almost metallic at time & that was something that took away from the rest of the beer sadly & stopped me from enjoying it as much as I had with some of Cloudwaters previous offerings.

Canned 5 weeks ago.

L -- Hazy orange body with a finger of white head produced with moderate pour. Quickly dissipating head leaves minimal lacing. Looks like a lot of the Trillium IPAs/APAs.
S -- Much more dank and tropical fruit-forward than DIPA V3. Lots of pineapple, grapefruit, melon, catty musk, green onion, 'green' herbaceousness
T -- Juicy tropical fruit and citrus, with a noticeable yeast bite. Crackery malts. The yeast is a bit much, but otherwise quite nice
F -- Crisp and moderately astringent. Medium mouthfeel, medium+ carb. Semi-dry
O -- Definitely the most NEIPA-styled beer I've had that wasn't produced in the US. Huge improvement over DIPA V3, imo

Bright yellow, hazy look. Aroma has slightly dank hop notes with sweet fruits like pineapple and ripe apricot. Taste is really fruity and hoppy with some grassy notes on the finish and slightly astringent bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Really nice one, a good DIPA version from Cloudwater.
