Collaboration with Garage Beer Co.
The fifth in a series of collaborations ahead of our first festival, Friends & Family & Beer was brewed with Garage Beer Co from Barcelona. Owt wi’ th’Owls Mi Owd? is an elderberry and grape sour, dry hopped with New Zealand hops. As a result, it has a distinct white wine character with notes of white grape, gooseberry and grapefruit backed up by red berry flavours.

Pours a reddish orange with fine, pinkish foam.
Smell is crisp and tart, with notes of elderflower, grapefruit, grass and white wine.
Taste is tart, with a slight underlying bitterness, like that of grapefruit rind. Notes of gooseberries, white wine, elderflower and grass. Well balanced, and very refreshing.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very interesting sour, lots of levels of flavor.

Pours a cloudy orange'ish red coloration with a medium, foamy head that quickly disappears. Smells of white grape and tart gooseberry, with hints of red berries. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by white grape and tart gooseberry, as well as grapefruit and hints of red berries: elderberry, cranberry. Finishes quite dry, with a light tartness and some grapefruit and gooseberry notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and medium carbonation.
I've never had a Kettle Sour that I truly loved and this is no exception. The white grape, gooseberry and grapefruit flavors kinda run together to form a certain character that reminds me of cactus fruit. Tartness and acidity is also quite mild. This is certainly an interesting beer with a unique mix of flavors that is enjoyable enough, but just doesn't really click with me.
