Keg (Pint) from St Andrews Brewery Caird Hall (£5.40):
Light but bright amber with a clear body & a thin white lacing that's frothy whilst covers the surface well. The nose is light & fresh with lemon & some faint grassy hops, a pale malt bitterness & some hay. The taste was clean & light with a subtle earthy malt bitterness & some hay alongside a few grassy hops & faint citrus flavours to see things out. The beer was a light, semi-dry bodied one with moderate carbonation & came through as an okay pilsner but it’s not up there with the brewery’s excellent IPA’s sadly.

Pours a clear golden coloration with a large, foamy, lasting head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of doughy, slightly grainy malt and grassy, floral, citrus hops, with a hint of peach. Taste is a good balance of doughy, slightly grainy malt and grassy/herbal hops, with some floral accents and citrus/stone fruit notes of grapefruit, tangerine and peach. Finishes quite crisp, with a medium bitterness and some herbal and citrus notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation. This walks the edge between a Pilsner and an IPL quite well, having some noticeable citrus notes, but still maintaining a crisp and clean character that is dominated by grainy malt and herbal hops, with a good bitterness.
