Helles is a classic German-style pale lager, popularised in Bavaria. It is a style that is subtle, delicate and designed to showcase malt flavours, with a crisp finish and very little hop bitterness. A long lagering period is used to achieve a beer that is bright, clean and refreshing.
Aroma & Flavour: Subtle malt notes, alongside light lemony and herbal hop accents
Body: Medium, smooth body with soft carbonation and a crisp finish
Aftertaste: Soft and delicate, with lingering, light sweetness and low bitterness

16 oz can from Colin. Pale golden with small, but creamy head. Aroma is spot on for the style. Taste brings a a bit of citrus, sweetness on top of the bready base. Seemingly starts out normal, but then takes it to another level.

Pours a very slightly cloudy pale golden, straw coloration with a medium, foamy head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of sweet, doughy malt with a distinct grassiness, as well as some hay and citrus zest. Despite some sweet'ish biscuity, doughy malt, this is actually quite dry and hoppy, with distinct notes of wet grass and lemon peel, as well as just a hint of hay and herbal accents. Finishes quite crisp and dry, with a light bitterness and some citrus zest lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth body with a light/medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
While this does have a very nice, crisp and clean, character to it, it's a little too dry and hoppy for a typical Helles in my opinion, with the malts not shining through enough. Definitely a modern take on the style, but quite enjoyable in its own right.
