a neat little beer here with a pink hue like some beet juice was blended in or something, picking up some nice color from the plums. at its base its a clean and relatively simple belgian golden type, with some familiar yeast esters of white wine, green pear, and dried apple, as well as some honey sweetness from the malt. the plum addition is nice though, and its fairly robust, as there is both some sugar and some tang from it that goes well with the yeast notes and fleshes the beer out in a pretty unique way. i get the tartness of the skins, the juicy sweetness of the flesh, and there is no doubt that it is plum, which can sometimes have a rather generic fruity taste in beer rather than being plum specific, at least in my experience. their might even be a slight bacterial note to this, but its not a real sour beer or anything, and as far as the fermentation profile is concerned, the belgian tones still rule. a subtle peach thing, a drop of honey, and a summery freshness all combine to make this pretty drinkable and interesting at the same time. not my favorite beer from our visit to their london location, but another cool and engaging brew from these guys, who continue to impress!
