The West Coast IPA is a modern classic that changed perceptions of what beer could be, and paved the way for today's craft beer scene. Our own approach is informed by experiences working with trailblazing brewers and diving deep into their celebrated beers, so this delivers the hallmark layered bitterness and a clean, dry, resinous finish alongside punchy flavours provided by a blend of modern and classic hop varietals.

440ml can from Tesco (£3):
Quite a clear, light amber with the odd bubble rising & a half cm, foamy white head that started about double that height. The nose is hoppy with pine, tropical notes, citrus candied sugar & grapefruit. The citrus & pine carry over to the taste with some of the sweetness & tropical fruits too; it's a relatively clean mouthfeel with a dry, lightly carbonated finish as well. Overall its not bad but still not up to the brewery's usual standards for an IPA either.

440ml can. A clean, moderately bitter and refreshing west coast IPA. Orange pith, fresh cut grass and pine. Moderately bitter with a long and dry finish. Highly enjoyable.

Pours a slightly cloudy, medium amber, coppery coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of biscuity, caramel malt, citrus fruit and quite a bit of resinous pine. Taste is a great balance of biscuity, caramel malt, strong resinous pine, citrus notes of grapefruit and orange peel and just a hint of of tropical fruit as well: pineapple, mango. Finishes with a strong bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
An exceptional West Coast IPA that is at least on par with some of the best American examples of the style I've had. It's just bursting with a vivid, resious pine character, almost like chewing on pine needles, as well as some very nice citrus and lighter tropical notes, with a great, sweet'ish caramel malt presence that get's balanced nicely by a strong bitterness in the finish.

Pours a fairly clear amber with thick, soft head.
Smell is citrusy and piney with notes of resin and grapefruit rind.
Taste is piney, cirusy and crisp, with a powerful bitterness fllowed by grapefruit rind and resin. Very clean and balanced, despite the bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice west coast offering, almost up to the standard of the greats (Alesmith and Stone).
