Notes: At the selection table, a year’s weather, unique climates and terroir, and agronomic goals and constraints, show through variation from one lot to the next. This single-hopped Motueka IPA is made with the single 4/3/19 harvest lot from the five lots we hand selected this year.

Aroma & Flavour: Initial notes of freshly zested lime yield to honeydew melon, lychee and unripened gooseberry
Body: Full-bodied, smooth and silky, with soft carbonation
Aftertaste: Lingering flavours of sweet melon intertwine with green papaya and earthy notes

Big pineapple + lime sour candies; lemon zest, dried apricot, candied pineapple, peach + slight gooseberry spice; soft + silky.

Intense citrus + mellow tropical. Shows new sides of Motueka, which I only knew as “the margarita hop.” But not as deep and focused as CW can be.

Pours a hazy orange with soft, thick head.

Smell is fruity and juicy with notes of grapefruit, white wine, grapes and licorice. Very hoppy.

Taste is hoppy and juicy with notes of guava, lychee, gooseberries and some dank melon. Soft bitterness and slightly perfumey. Well balanced and drinkable.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft, pillowy and well carbonated.

Overall, a great IPA from Cloudwater, as always.

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a mdeium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and bright, zesty citrus notes of orange and lime peel and lighter tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple. Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and vibrant, juicy hops, with strong, somewhat zesty citrus notes of orange and lime peel and more subtle, sweet tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple, as well as some slightly acidic gooseberry. Finishes with a light bitterness and some lime, pineapple and gooseberry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

An excellent IPA that showcases the Motueka hops very well, with some quite vibrant, zesty citrus notes, with lime peel standing out in particularly and lighter tropical and gooseberry notes, creating an amazing balance of zesty and slightly sweet and acidic notes, rounded out by a good bitterness. The entire Hand Picked In New Zealand series has been nothing short of outstanding so far and this single-hopped Motueka IPA is certainly no exception.
