Our time at Freestyle Farms in April 2019 drew to a close with a feast prepared by their multi-talented crew. A fire followed, in between a few remaining bines, illuminating the faces of growers, farmers, processing experts, and a few of the world’s best brewers.

Though we miss being part of events and celebrations face-to-face, we take inspiration and energy from being part of such a good-hearted industry.
Aftertaste: Sweet papaya sticks around into the finish, punctuated by strong peppery notes.

Pours a hazy orange with thick head.

Smell is tropical with citrus notes.

Taste is juicy and somewhat dank. Nice amount of bitter and nice bite from the hop. Just a hint booziness.

Mouthfeel is just right for the style.

Overall, a great DIPA.

Pours a hazy, deep orange coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head and plenty of lacing as it slowly subsides. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and bright, juicy citrus, tropical hops, with notes of orange, mango and papaya, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste is a perfect balance of just slightly sweet biscuity, caramel malt and vibrant, juicy, just slightly dank and resinous hops with zesty citrus and sweet tropical notes of orange, mango and papaya, as well as just a hint of white grape, gooseberry, white pepper and pine. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness, light hop bite and some dank, citrus, tropical notes lingering in the aftertaste, as well as bit more pine coming through. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a rich body and medium carbonation.

An absolutely terrific Double New England IPA with a great balance of sweet, juicy, dank and bitter notes. Quite dank and vibrant zesty citrus and sweet tropical notes complemented perfectly by somewhat dry, peppery and acidic white grape and gooseberry, really bringing out those typical NZ hop characteristics. Perhaps just a tad sweeter than I would personally like, but still incredibly well-balanced and without a hint of booze or those overripe notes that many Double NEIPAs suffer from.

Pours a hazy orange with thick, soft head.

Smell is tropical with notes f mango, bood orange, papaya, melon and a hint of licorice.

Taste is juicy, tropical and a bit dank. Notes of mango, papaya, melon, grapes and gooseberries. Moderate, but soft bitterness and nice bite from the hop. Superb balance, and no booze.

Mouthfeel is perfect for the style, soft, smooth and pillowy, well carbonated.

Overall, a terrific DIPA, so drinkable, with so much flavor.
