This Belgian Bitter is an exercise in balance. Trademark Belgian yeast characteristics, including flavours of clove and underripe banana, intertwine with a firm hop bitterness, underpinned by a soft, sweet malt profile and smooth body. It's our take on an elegant, modern classic.

Aroma & Flavour: Bright orange and grapefruit, supported by clove, cardamom and underripe banana
Body: Smooth yet light, slight sweetness followed by a dry finish
Aftertaste: Clove, cardamom and banana linger in a long finish characterised by a strong, pithy bitterness

Pours an almost clear, golden coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy malt, hoppy citrus notes and quite noticeable spicy and slightly fruity yeast esters of clovem cardamon, banana and green apple. Taste is an excellent balance between light, slightly sweet, doughy malt, hoppy citrus and very lightly resinous notes of grapefruit with just a hint of pine and quite pronounced spicy and lighter fruity yeast esters of clove, caradamon, banana and green apple. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some citrus hops and spicy esters lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

I didn't love this right away, but it really grew on me as it warmed and I grew used to it. An excellent combination of a West Coast and Belgian IPA that works surprisingly well due to a perfect balance of soft, sweet'ish malts, bitter, resinous, citrus hops and quite spicy and slightly fruity yeast esters that harmoniously interlace without taking away from each other. A unique, perfectly executed brew that is quite enjoyable if you enjoy both west coast and Belgian flavors.

Pours a clear golden yellow with soft, fluffy, very Belgian head.

Smell is spicy and yeasty with notes of cardamom, banana and a bit of herbal sweetness.

Taste is pretty damn bitter, but very crisp. Big floral notes backed up by spicy yeast, banana, cloves and cardamom. Nice complexity and very clean and refreshing, with a hint of perfume on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, with bright, sparkling carbonation.

Overall, a terrific, modern take on a Belgian pale ale/bitter.
