Separation of the hop plant is an important, integral part of the process between harvesting and pelletisation. It poses a deep, philosophical question. Are the bines and leaves being removed, or are the hop flowers being collected? We hope you enjoy this beer, featuring a single lot of Nelson Sauvin, harvested on 14/3/2019.

Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of quite faint doughy, wheaty malt and quite vibrant hoppy notes of white grape, gooseberry and some zesty lime. Taste follows the nose, with quite light doughy, wheaty malt and very little yeasty esters coming through, but quite a hoppy, vibrant Nelson presence of white grape and gooseberry notes, as well as some rather zesty lime and just a hint of peppery spice. Finishes with a light bitterness and some white grape and lime lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I was quite curious how this would compare to its sister brew, Collecting Flowers? Or Removing Bines And Leaves?. I have to say that I kinda regret having them one afterthe other, instead of side-by-side, as the differences really are quite subtle. This has even less wheaty malt and estery yeast to me, but with a bit of an additional zesty lime presence that almost makes me wonder if there's som,e Motueka in here that they are not telling us about. Perhaps a little spicier as well, which really is more of a peppery hop character than estery spice though. Again, an excellent Single Nelson brew, that has little in common with a Hefeweizen though.
