Separation of the hop plant is an important, integral part of the process between harvesting and pelletisation. It poses a deep, philosophical question. Are the bines and leaves being removed, or are the hop flowers being collected? We hope you enjoy this beer, featuring a single lot of Nelson Sauvin, harvested on 21/3/2019.

Pours a hazy orange with soft, thick head.

Smell is fruity and slightly yeasty. Notes of citrus, grapes, gooseberries with hints of banana, cloves and some peppery esters.

Taste is fruity and citrusy. Notes of gooseberries, peach and grapes with hints of banana and cloves. Soft bitterness with some esters on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and fluffy, with good carbonation.

Overall, a very nice showcase of Nelson, and while it's not a very classical Hefe, this is pretty damn tasty.

Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light doughy, wheaty malt and quite bright hoppy notes of white grape and gooseberry, with just the faintest hint of estery banana and clove coming through as well. Taste follows the nose, with some quite light doughy, wheaty malt and very faint hints of estery fruit/spice notes of banana and clove, while the Nelson hops are quite dominant, with some quite bright, vibrant and slightly acidic notes of white grape and gooseberry, as well as just a hint of citrus. Finishes with a light bitterness and some white grape and gooseberry lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium bodyand carbonation.

Rated strictly to style, I would probably score this somewhat lower, as there's really not much of a Hefeweizen in here, with the wheat malt and estery yeast notes remaining quite firmly in the background. However, it's a damn nice Single Nelson beer, with those typical white grape and gooseberry and light acidity really standing out quite vibrant and distinctive. Perhaps not a great Hopfenweisse, but a damn good beer nonetheless.
