This beer combines our love of British beer heritage, famed for session-strength beer and effortless drinkability, with the bold flavours we love from our DIPAs, and the technical challenges of brewing lower-strength beer that's big-bodied and full-flavoured. This is a great choice for times when you’re taking it easy, but still want a big, hoppy hit from a dry-hopping rate most commonly seen in stronger beers.

A 440ml can, canned on 4th March 2020, and a freshest flavour before date of 24th May 2020. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Appearance: A hazy straw golden yellow colour with a two finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly and left only sparse lacing.

Aroma: Aromas are a bit weak, but there is sweet mandarin and citrus zest.

Taste: Biscuit malt, lightly bitter, orange, citrus zest, notes of unripe mango, and hints of pepper.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Aromas and flavours were not as strong as I hoped for, and the regular Pale Ale at 3.7% abv just seemed more crushable to me with what I felt was a lighter body and more spritzy carbonation.

Pours a hazy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit, tangerine and papaya, as well as a light grassiness. Taste is an excellent balance of biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with the citrus dominating with notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well as just a hint of papaya and grassy, herbal accents. Finishes with a light bitterness and some citrus and herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and medium carbonation.

For a brew that is below 3% ABV, this is absolutely amazing, featuring some vibrant, almost zesty citrus notes and none of the typical, chalky aftertaste that I've come to expect from such low-ABV Session Pale Ales, although it does have just a touch of that hop pellet character to it, which really isn't too bad though. It's rather light-bodied, obviously, but with a surprisingly good mouthfeel. An absolutely terrific brew for the very low ABV.
