Think about a Californian sunset. Think about a lush, dense, coniferous forest. Or let all thoughts gradually slip from your head as you savour this bold, yet clean and deceptively drinkable, West Coast-style Imperial IPA.

A 440ml can, canned on 11th March 2020, and a freshest flavour before date of 30th May 2020. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy golden colour with a two finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left some thick fluffy lacing.
Aroma: Orange, doughy, stone fruit, grapefruit zest, papaya, and notes of pine.
Taste: Lightly bitter and lightly sweet, orange pulp, citrus pith and zest, piney, with a light dry spicy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: An interesting West Coast Double IPA with a nice balance between sweet and bitter.

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, slightly grainy malt and resinous, slightly floral hops, with some pine and fruity citrus/tropical grapefruit and papaya notes as well. Taste is a great balance of doughy, slightly grainy malt and bitter, resinous, fruity and slighty floral hops, with citrus/tropical notes of grapefruit and papaya, as well as a good dose of pine and slighty spicy accents. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some floral, citrus hops and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Perhaps a slightly unusual, but still great interpretation of a WCIPA that is just a little too heavy on the grainy malt and floral hops for me, but really makes up for that with a great, resinous bitterness and vibrant fruity citrus/tropical notes and ever so slightly spicy accents.

Pours a fairly clear orange with soft, dense head.
Smell is citrusy with notes of pine, grapefruit and some peach. Pretty light considering the style and ABV.
Taste is clean and crisp, with lots of citrus and pine, along with a hefty, slightly floral bitterness. Very bright and balanced with no sign of booze, with a long, dry finish.
Mouthfeel is medium, sticky and well carbonated.
Overall, a great modern west coast DIPA. As clean as all Cloudwater beers, and impeccably made.
