This isn't a beer to talk about, it's a beer to talk over - the kind of beer you'd reach for after a long walk with a dear friend, or after a long day at work when you need time to kick back and unwind.

Bright, clean and refreshing, yet still rich and complex, this unique Lager was inspired by our collaboration with Coloradan craft beer trailblazers Odell, From Mountains Rivers Flow. We felt the delicious combination of fresh hop flavours and deep malts in that Mountain-style IPA would translate well to a lagered beer, so we followed this path to arrive at a Mountain Lager.

Pours a deep golden amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smell is a little subdued, with some faint bready, grainy malt and floral, grassy hops, with just a hint of citrus coming through. Taste is a great balance of bready, grainy malt and floral, slightly grassy and spicy hops, with hints of wet hay, citrus and peppery spice. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some bready malt and floral, spicy hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While I was kinda expecting an India Pale Lager from this, it's really a rather traditional, malt-forward lager that's quite crisp and clean, with a good balance of sweet malt and bitter, noble hops and only very light fruity citrus accents. Probably the most traditional lager I've had from Cloudwater so far and it's good to see that they can pull off a style like this just as easily as their more hop-forward brews, although it's perhaps just a tad too sweet and grainy for my personal taste.

Pours a semi clear amber with thick, fluffy head.

Smell is malty and bready with notes of knäckebröd, popcorn, citrus and some rye.

Taste is malty but with bright hoppiness. Very clean with notes of citrus, honey, knäckebrd and a solid bitterness. Floral, slightly dry finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a terrific lager that drinks lighter than it's ABV.
