This is a tribute to the strong, heavily hopped West Coast beers that captured our hearts by combining incredible depth of flavour, with effortless drinkability. It’s rich and intense yet still soft, fresh and bright, with a finish that’s deliciously dry and clean rather than aggressively bitter.

440ml can from Cloudwater Online Shop (£4.50):
Subdued amber & hazy, topped with a bubbly white head that's foamy on the surface & holds quite well too. The nose opens with resinous pine, sweet malts & caramel with grapefruit  citrus to finish. The taste is quite bitter, lots of pine & grapefruit hops to start, it's resinous too with citrus & more sweet malts further on. It's semi-dry & bitter with moderate carbonation then quite a resinous finish but the alcohol is hidden fairly well.

Pours a semi clear amber with soft, soapy head.

Smell is fruity and a bit floral with notes of citrus, grapes, caramel and a dank herbalness and just a hint of cat pee.

Taste is soft and fruity, with a fairly strong floral element. Note of citrus, peach, rose water, grapes and hints of caramel, herbs, chamomille and lemongrass. Soft, but clear bitterness with a hint of sweetness. Very easy to drink with exceptional balance.

Mouthfeel is medium, sticky, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a very Cloudwatery take on a west coast IPA. Modern and superbly crafted.

Canned in a big old tallboy crafty craft can and pours a fairly clear golden body with massive thick white head that pretty much sticks around
Aroma is sweet malt & bitter grapefruit
Flavour is halfway there, slightly sweet malt some sticky resinous pine, lacking the bitterness.
Good but for a WCIPA fan ultimately disappointing

Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smell is a little subdued, with only faint biscuity, caramel malt, grapefruit and piney hops coming through. Taste is a lot more expressive than the nose, with a great balance of biscuity, slightly toasted, caramelly malt and bitter, resinous, herbal hops, with lighter fruity citrus notes of grapefruit, tangerine and a hint of gooseberry, as well as some pine. Finishes quite dry, with a medium/strong bitterness and some toasted malt, grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A great West Coast IPA with a medium malt backbone and rather dry, herbal and resinous character, as well as some bright citrus and lighter berry notes to liven things up, finishing with a great bitterness. This is quite an interesting take on the WCIPA that is not extremely bitter, but rather dry and herbal instead, with some distinct notes of grapefruit and pine. Once again, Cloudwater manages to make the style its own with this unique take that somehow manages to be both traditional and modern at the same time, while being rather well-balanced as well. Overall, a great WCIPA that is rich in character, yet easy-drinking, making for a unique and rather enjoyable example of the style.
