L- Murky dark brown, ie poured with much sediment. A patch of transient foam. It reminds me of a Long Island iced tea.
S- A mild but aromatic/warm spiciness.
T- Ok, clearly I have congestion, as the flavours immediately leap out on my palate. Vanilla is big, then a broad Autumn/Winter cinnamon/all-spice spectrum. The apple is clearly here too but I register it last, it's there but less clearly definable and I now notice it broadly in the background.
F- Quite rich and deep, the ABV% zing just starts peeking through as it warms a touch.
O- Certainly different. Entirely blind-tasted I might imagine it a deep/dark trad ale, with an apple edge and added winter/Xmas spices. The base seems to be Brown Ale, so not much difference, perhaps the latter's nutty edge loses prominence in the mix (not that it's a loss IMO). In summary this is pretty full-on beer with prominent spice and fruit notes, ideal as a post-dinner slow-sipping beer as we head for year end.
440ml PVC wrapped can (featuring a zillion apples). £7.99 bought from Wholefoods. COD: 03/08/2020 - BB: 03/12/20
