Of the many ways in which our brewery and beers benefit from lot selection, the opportunity to deviate from the norm and take an exciting new turn is one we relish.

Two years ago we selected a peculiar lot of Simcoe that wasn’t like all the rest - it stood out for being fruitier and richer. Last year, another lot stood out, and it came as no surprise it was from the same farm!

Discovering new farms, unusual lots, and exciting variations on familiar themes is only the start of a journey, that ultimately leads us to smiles on your faces. By upping the hopping rate in this popular beer, we’re hoping to make those smiles stretch even further.

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and citrus/tropical/stone fruit hops, with notes of grapefruit, mango and peach, as well as some light herbal accents. Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly herbal and resinous hops, with citrus, tropical and stone fruit notes of grapefruit, mango, pineapple and peach, as well as some pine resin also coming through. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some fruity and slightly resinous notes lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This makes for a great New England IPA that rather fruity and juicy, but with some nice herbal and resinous accents as well, with the hops really feeling quite vibrant and expressive here, while this also has a rather impressive, soft and pillowy mouthfeel to it. The balance of fruity, resinous and herbal elements really works out terrific here, with a good, light bitterness rounding things out in the finish. A very enjoyable brew indeed, as usual from Cloudwater.
