Simcoe's juicy pineapple character is given space to express itself in this soft DIPA, fermented using a yeast strain that's new to us.

Pours a hazy light orange with soft, soapy head.
Smell is juicy with some malty sweetness. Notes of pineapple, mango, citrus, gooseberries and some grassiness.
Taste is juicy and intense, but not overbearing. Notes of pineapple, mango, orange, grapefruit and gooseberries. Soft, moderate bitterness with a hint of warming alcohol and a slight wooden hint.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and pillowy with good carbonation.
Overall, another outstanding hybrid IPA by Cloudwater.

Pours a hazy, golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with notes of pineapple and grapefruit, as well as some sticky pine resin. Taste is an excellent balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, resinous and slighty earthy hops, with tropical and citrus notes of pineapple, grapefruit, orange rind, as well as some pine and hints of earthy, almost woody accents. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some pineapple, grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A great IPA that once again manages to walk Cloudwater's signature line between New England and West Coast style just perfectly with its juicy, bitter and resinous character and soft, pillowy mouthfeel. I can always appreciate a single-hopped IPA and this certainly showcases Simcoe beautifully, with some distinct pineapple and grapefruit notes, as well as distinct pine and a certain earthy/woody quality, while I think I can detect some faint berry notes as well. There's a great balance of sweetness and bitterness to this, which are both rather pronounced, but balance each other out perfectly here.

440ml can. My clumsy pour screwed its appearance. Full of sediment. I imagine it should be a rich, burnt orange colour with a thin head. Aroma is overripe tropical fruit with some cauliflower in the background. Tastes of rich, heavy, oozing, overripe pineapple. Hot, spicy, thick mouthfeel. This New-England-style DIPA is beautifully made and it’s not backing down. It’s very full-on. Easy-ish to drink but dank as heck and very rich.
