Citra has an awful lot to answer for. Its versatility has made it a key component in so many of our beers over the years, helping to complement and elevate other hop varieties. Here, it stands completely on its own, allowing you to indulge fully in its aromatics of ripe, juicy mango, passion fruit and tangerine.

Pours a hazy, deep orange coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head, leaving wispy tufts of white lacing as it slowly recedes. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of orange, mango and lychee, as well as just a hint of dankness. Taste is an excellent balance of biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly dank hops, with citrus and tropical notes of orange, grapefruit, mango, passion fruit and lychee, as well as hints of spicy weed. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some orange, mango, lychee and weed lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, fluffy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

I think that this beer really is a testament to Cloudwater's hop selection process, which I'm sure is where a lot of their success comes from. While this is not the first single-hopped Citra IPA I've had, very rarely have I witnessed the hop in all of its glory like for this brew, where it shines through so expressive, vibrant and in all of its facets. For example, I've never gotten lychee from Citra as distinctively as here, while those typical, zesty and tangy citrus and tropical notes really stand out, with a certain hint of dankness as well. Great, soft and full body and mouthfeel as well, while there is not a hint of booziness or overripe notes to this. Just a fantastic brew and that at almost 10 weeks old, no less.

Pours a hazy orange with fluffy head.

Smell is juicy and a bit sweet with notes of grapefruit, orange, tangerine, mango and elderflower with some floral and grassy hints.

Taste is juicy and intense with some sweetness. Clean and crisp despite the level of intensity. Notes of grapefruit, orange, mango, tangerine and nectarine. Soft bitterness with a slightly floral finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and pillowy with good carbonation.

Overall, another outstanding DIPA from Cloudwater.
