On tap:
Pours a deep amber and fairly clear. Didn’t pay too close attention to the head as I was distracted, but I can say that near the end of slowly drinking this beer, there’s a decent amount of bubbles sitting on the its surface.
The nose… smells like barley. I mean, like what I recall from my home brewing days. The sweet notes of wort are spiced up with some esters of yeast and alcohol beyond almost exactly as I would expect from a finished product. In addition, the nose seems familiar given my recent delving into single malt whisk[e]y (Scottish and American).
I was reminded of the quad style when I was given a sample of this beer. After ordering, the sweeter side of this beer plays into that perception. They do go all out, though, and are lighter versions of their Belgian cousi(?) with medium dark bread, golden raisin, and fig. Medium-plus viscosity, leaning towards full body, somehow without weighing my palate down. Spiced dark fruit bread doesn’t live up to the lofty mark the nose set, but falling just a bit short is far from a dig on this beer.

Is it Barleywine or is it
Winter Warmer?
Best drink it from a quad glass to be sure!
Canned in a big old tallboy crafty craft can and purchased from Beermoth in the city centre
Pours a muscado coloured body with off white head
Aroma is sherry
Flavour is sugar fruits and creamy booze with a touch of lime
