A West Coast IPA featuring some of our favourite 'C' hops; Citra, Centennial and Columbus in this case, with a healthy dose of Idaho 7 to bring out some of the juicy flavours.

440ml can.
L: Not fully bright, not hazy, poor head retention. Nice golden orange colour.
S: Musty, earthy, pithy tropical fruit.
T: Orange zest & resin, low bitterness that builds to moderate.
F: Medium/full body, heavy mouthfeel, extra oily, dry-ish finish. Quite hard work.
O: A bit disappointed, if I’m honest. I read “bright west coast IPA” on the can and assumed my favourite British brewer of New England-style IPAs would smash it out of the park with the other, (recently) much over-looked style of AIPA. Would prefer it to be more bitter, be less buttery, have more carbonation and be more refreshing. Tastes and feels more than 6%.

Pours a fairly clear amber with fine, soapy head.

Smell is crisp and fruity with notes of pine, gooseberries, citrus, citrus peel, black tea and a bit of caramel.

Taste is clean, crisp and fruity with a moderate bitterness. Notes of pine, grapefruit, gooseberries, black tea and caramel with a hint of gunpowder.

Mouthfeel is medium, sticky and well carbonated.

Overall, a terrific modern west coast IPA. As usual Cloudwater are great at combining intensity with clarity.
