This is the first in a new series of beers that explores beyond the new normal. I had this beer on-tap in a tumbler glass at the brewery in Manchester. The bartender told me it was made with a bière de garde yeast, but it really doesn't fit into any good style category.
Appearance: pale golden hue with a dash of haze and a nice effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy ivory foam.
Smell: sweet malt with a little bit of a vinous note and a hint of tropical fruitiness. There's also just the tiniest hint of funk. An interesting beer. It mostly works.
Taste: a bit sweeter than the aroma, with a little mango character plus also that vinous note. It's definitely different.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I want to like this beer a lot more, and I applaud its inventiveness. But it just doesn't quite 100% work for me.
