CANd now, my ninth & final entry in/of New Tying Up Loose Ends Beer Sunday (Week 759) which loops us back to Week 718 & gives me CANother opportunity to further The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "West Coast Style India Pale Ale"; "106 IBU's"; "Try to find another East Coast brew that can produce this much West Coast flavor - we dare ya! Copious amounts of Simcoe & Citra collide with Chinook bittering hops to compliment the Pale and Vienna malts, This creates that quintessential flavor that we've all come to know and love from West Coast Style IPAs, only we're doing it on the East Coast!"; "From Barn to Brewery"; "Find Our Story at Stable12.com"; "Handcrafted and Brewed [in] Phoenixville, PA"; "Please Recycle".
Ah, at last. No inverting, no shaking, no d**king around with nonsensical hipster b-s, just a simple Crack! & Glug into an awaiting glass. I looked on in rapt fascination as this gently foamed up to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with great retention. Color was a sloid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled like Simcoe the kitty had done her business in a pine forest as grapefruits rained down around her. 8=O I have had so many beers that were marginally in their style or simply not to my liking in recent memory that this seems like a fitting end to a marathon day! This is the sort of thing that made me a true hophead believer over twenty years ago & of which there is simply not enough of currently. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste opened with an absurd amount of cattiness (thanks, Simcoe!), slowly dissolving/devolving into a cool pine resinousness. As that were not enough, the grapefruit citrusiness suddenly appeared from nowheresville, man, creating a dryness that left me gasping & reaching for my asthma inhaler! Phew. This was olde skool, baby. Not for the faint of heart, but enough to send me into Lullaby-Land, dig? YMMV.

Had on-tap at the Federal Taphouse in State College. Poured into a 12 oz goblet.
L: Nearly clear golden pour with 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Nice lacing.
S: Pine and resin... lighter citrus.
T/F: Biscuity grain backbone. West Coast hop profile all the way... strong pine and resin. Citrus and fruit underneath. Medium bodied.... good bitterness.
O: A nice take on a classic West Coast IPA. Good flavor and drinkability. One I'd definitely have again.

I think this beer is somewhat underrated below a 4 overall. I think it compares well, and sometimes even favorable to some of the bigger, better known names that are scoring higher. Give this one a try.

Canned 10/2/17.
Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over a bright body with an almost absurd amount of floaties with scant lacing. Nose of tropical fruit, slight pine, and even slighter malt. Taste of pine bitterness with some of the aforementioned fruit mellowing that pine slightly. Good feel and overall, those floaties though?!?!?

Golden orange in color with tons of yeasty floaties that once aloowed to settle for a bit allowed good clarity. Poured with a short, creamy, white foam with medium low retention. Incredibly fresh hop aromas reminiscent of the smell of a handful of hop pellets. Sharp aromas of fresh grapefruit and tangerine with light, bready maltiness beneath. Medium bodied with medium light carbonation. Light creamy smoothness through the middle with light prickly, boozy warmth from the middle to the end. Juicy, citrusy pineapple, tangerine and orange flavors up front followed by medium high, spicy hop bitterness through the middle. Hop bitterness to pine hop bitterness and boozy heat to the end. Medium light malty back bone throughout. Finished semi-dryly with a strong lingering pine hop bitterness and lingering citrus notes. Undeniably hop forward with intense hop character and freshness. Bitterness at the finish is a bit on the intense side but slowly subsides. Very tasty.

A thanks to the reigning champion of canned beer, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch had. Smell is earthy, herbal. Taste is dank, resin, light citrus, some herbal notes. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

I'm always a fan of the 16 oz can when I see it. This can is pretty ugly but I thought I would give it a try. Glad I did. Had never heard of this brewery even though it is pretty close to me. Beer pours a yellowy Orange with a pretty thin white head. Love the smell. Very dank and fruity. Taste is bitter citrus undertones. I love it. High abv but very drinkable. I will have to look for more.
