Stable 12 Brewing Co. "High Horse"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED ON 04/13/23" and sampled on 08/13/23
$4.25 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a double IPA at 8% with Columbus, Nugget, and Simcoe hops. It's poured a very hazy light golden body beneath a thumb's width or more of white foam. It's brightly aromatic with notes of citrus, mango, peppery spiciness, woodiness, and delicate flowers. On to the taste... it's sweeter than I expected, which is OK because it amplifies the fruitiness. I'm getting tangerine, lemon, mango, peach, berry, passionfruit, and some grapefruit pith. It's also resinous, peppery, woody, and still a little floral. The alcohol has a presence but it otherwise very well cloaked. There's some bitterness to it but I can't pinpoint the IBUs, and there's a light acidity to it. Although it's sweet up front it finishes dry with a light touch of "hop burn" and spicy, peppery, woody, and lightly resinous notes. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp-and-then-smooth with a moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation. The head retention was pretty good but the lacing could have been better; that's a fairly minor in terms of the whole though. I love the choice of hops and the way they've used them, leaving it a little bit old school while still modern.
