16 oz can from Tavour. I meant to drink these together..oh well. Dark brown pour, small bubbly beige head. Aroma brings coffee first, then a solid roast malt backbone. Taste introduces light sweet notes, almost lactose, before succumbing to the roast malt and coffee bitterness. Smooth.

L: Dark brown with red hue at the edge of glass. Thin tan head with little retention or lacing.
S: Roasted malts. Coffee and bakers chocolate bitterness, and grain.
T: Follows the nose. A Porter for sure, but it is obvious why this combined well with the light. Both brews have some similarities.
F: Moderate weight and carbonation. Average.
O: Together I was very sad to see them completely mix and waited for separation to no avail. But taste-wise I really enjoyed these. Best Black and Tan of three I've had.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, malted milk, cocoa, vanilla and a little coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a little char, dark chocolate, vanilla and drip coffee; moderate dark malt and char finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Drinking Light and Dark individually and have a layered black & tan from both sitting by to try too; will review under Light. This Dark is a medium bodied but balanced porter with good char notes and some coffee, although I don't think that's an ingredient as it is in Light. Smooth and somewhat unassuming, but hits all the expected flavors for a medium ABV porter.
