I added this one following a visit to the Brewer's Outlet on Butler Avenue, where I found it on the closeout shelf. Of all of the tart & sour ales currently available, I like the Goses best. Their inherent saltiness reminds me of being at sea, something that I did as a US Navy sailor for 15.25 years before taking early retirement nearly 22 years ago. My embarkation on The CANQuest (tm) beCAN as a lark, but it has become an all-CANsuming faction of my hobby for over 16 years! Tempus fugits. I was certainly NOT going to simply let this one slip through my fingers.

I did some in-CAN agiCANtion to ensure that any flocculate was back in suspension & then proceeded with the Crack! of the vent. Once acCANplished, I went with a fairly heavy-handed C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This raised a rolling, fizzy, foamy finger of pinkish head that quickly reverted to wisps. Color was a hazy Pink (SRM = N/A), like pink grapefruit juice. Nose smelled like somebody salted some sour cherries and my sibilants succeeded in saying so! No kidding, I really smelled Montmorency cherries in abundance with a modicum of saltiness. How CAN I be so sure? My uncle, the home vintner, has made sour cherry wine in the past & I have helped, both in its production & CANsumption. Mouthfeel was thin & watery, as usual for the style. The taste was not at all sour, but it was both very tart and salty enough to be appreciable without being over the top. It really tasted strongly of tart cherries with a pleasant saltiness as an acCANponiment. Mmm. Finish was salty, tart & dry. It was a very worthwhile find, IMHO. YMMV.
