Stable 12 Brewing Co. "Brighter Side"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 03/19/25" and sampled on 08/19/25
$4.25 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a cloudy golden body beneath a very short head of bright white foam that faded almost immediately. It looks like a glass of juice. The aroma is resinous and fruity without displaying any specific fruits. It's not the most aromatic double dry-hopped IPA that I've ever had. Moving onto the taste, it follows the aroma as usual. There's some resin and pine to it but it's mainly a nectarine note that defines it. I'd say there's also some dried apricot, some white grape, and a hint of lemon/lime. Maybe some sweet red berries as well. It's not a very flavorful beer though, and it comes across as watery. It's not that bitter but the resins give it a light bit of "hop burn" and it finishes dry. It lingers with some mineral and fruit. In the mouth it's light-medium in body, lightly carbonated, and a touch astringent. I'm not sensing any alcohol but at 6.5% that should be the case. All in all this, to my perception, this comes off like a watered down glass of juice that's been hopped. It's disappointing to look at with no head and no lacing, lacking in aroma, and then ultimately flavor, and finally, it's thin in the mouth and astringent. Had this been called something like a summer refresher I think it would score much better but as a double dry hopped New England-style IPA it's decidedly lacking all around. This is quite possibly the harshest review that I've written for a beer that's not exactly wretched, but it just doesn't deliver.
