sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Part of a trade with Warren. thanks man!
the beer pours a cloudy golden rod color with a 1 cm bleached white head that fades to a wispy surface layer with a tight edge. There is some spacious lacing on the sides of my glass.
The aroma is some citrusy notes with orange and grapefruit, but also some spicy rye and a little black pepper.
Fairly appealing nose on the beer. The first sip reveals a lighter body than expected and very fine tingly carbonation. The beer is easy to drink based on the physical properties, but it may be more interesting if it had a little more body to it.
The flavor is fruity with some mango and then rolls to spicy rye notes and a bit of black pepper. The finish is a little bit of an astringent bite to it but also dries out my palate. This is an okay beer but the flavor seems a bit muddled and isnt really all that memorable, but isnt bad either. The burps are kind of grassy which isnt bad either, but overall this beer is ok and not great.

Pours a murky mix of orange and brown that is frankly not very terribly appealing. Aroma is a distinct improvement, it's definitely on the cleaner side but I do get some rye and a subtle inidstinct tropical fruit note. The taste amps up the spicy rye a bit and the tropical fruits seem to lean towards mango but remain elusive; aside from a touch subtle bitterness and spicy rye the finish is clean. Ok mouthfeel, definitely a bit thinner in body than I'd like but the medium-ish carbonation works for me. Overall this actually isn't a bad beer, if it weren't for the almost muddy appearance and the thinness of the body this would be solid.
