Righteous Jams

Once again, this was a Brix City beer that I traded for but wasn't sure when as there wasn't a date stamped on the bottom of the can. I had moderately high hopes for this beer and as old as it was, they were met since it was better than the Tasty Jams in nearly every way.

Not a bad pour to this - even with the amount of sediment floating in this. Most of the thicker pieces floated to the bottom but I have to blame myself for this as this beer sat in my stash for quite some time. The floaties that were suspended in the liquid weren't huge but they were numerous as were quite fitting for the faded golden hue of this liquid. The lacing was pretty extensive with much of being being near the top of my pint glass. Lots of orange, lime, dank hops, and cream in the nose as the taste contained all of those to a greater extend. Sherbet, sugar, vanilla, and dewy grass came through in the taste as this turned out to be quite complex for an American Imperial IPA.

This had more than enough booze to it but the carbonation was light and the malt was recessed enough that the flavors were allowed to shine through and linger for the duration of my session. No, this wasn't the best beer that I had in recent months but it was solid enough that I enjoyed swishing each sip around before having the next one. Brighter flavors and a less dank aftertaste would have allowed me to rate this higher but as it was, this was a solid example of the style that needed a second, and fresher, helping to fully evaluate. One couldn't go wrong with this but it left quite a bit to be desired at the same time...
