Reviewed on release day. Poured from 16 oz. can into a teku glass. It pours a dirty orange color with a thick, fluffy, bright white head and abundant soapy lacing. It's a unique color and a pleasing presentation. The nose is rather subdued; mostly tart orange and some sweeter tropical notes. There is very little hop presence in the smell. Wow, is this different. It opens with a tart citrus taste akin to grapefruit but the lychee provides some sweet rose water notes and the orange peel stands out. There is also a slightly malty quality. It's quite bitter but the bitterness is citrusy, as well as hoppy. The bill of Citra, Amarillo, and Idaho 7 hops provides a unique taste. It has a plush, creamy mouth feel with a pleasant level of carbonation, and the 8% ABV gives it good substance without being distracting. Overall, this is a unique, adventuresome, and thoroughly enjoyable NE DIPA. It would pair very well with spicy Asian cuisine. I hope Brix City brews this one again.
