Traded for this recently as I wasn't able to get up to Brix City for a can of my own. Normally, I enjoy what they make and I'm a big lover of what District 96 has become in recent years but for some reason, this beer just did not work with me. I let it warm up and gave it a chance for some reason, this was very reminiscent of aspirin and lacking in appealing hops from start to finish.
Quite a turbid hue to this as not a lot of light shone through, although the head was quite full and fluffy. That bled over to the lacing as it was extensive, layered, present nearly all the way down the side of my pint glass. Such a funky and boozy aroma to this as there was a ton of strawberry patch, vegetable soup, funkiness, and alcohol as the taste was quite medicinal and full of aspirin. The slickness from what I guess was Citra was the only saving grace of this beer as it kept it from being weighed down any more than it was, as the aftertaste was full of wet forest and dense tropical fruit as the snake fruit somehow got lost in this brew's morass.
This had a full body and enough carbonation to keep it as lively as could be, but that wasn't really saying a lot in the end. This was plenty fresh but still needed a date on the bottom of the can for those who would dare age such a letdown of a beer. A friend of mine drain poured and although I'd never do that, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as there are much better examples of the style that are readily available. I'll still drink releases from these guys but I hope that this is the last bomb that I have from either of them...
