Here in Louisiana, what might look like oranges are what we call satsumas — and it takes more than 100 pounds of these juicy little fruits to craft one small batch of Faubourg DAT'SUMA IPA. This special brew will refresh and inspire you while you reminisce about the good ole’ days, when you used to peel these suckers on your Mee Maw’s front porch.

Drank from a 12 oz can; no birth date. Tastes of subtle orange and other citrus. Nice bitter hop to accompany. Seems to be of the west coast style with good malt backing. Very nice.

In Nola for jazzfest and hit this brewery for 'daze between' shows. Drank several cans of this over the course of the afternoon and noticed quite a taste discrepancy. 1st one was citrusy, 2nd one was malty(tasted old), 3rd one was somewhere in between. Not sure if it was a freshness, production or storage issue. Cool facility though.

Great flavor of citrus. Easy drinking IPA. Great on a summer afternoon on the back porch.

I’m in NOLA and I’m excited to be here. It’s a warm day outside (when isn’t it warm here?), but in Mahony’s Po Boys cafe it’s cool. They served this on tap in a big fat frosted! 18 oz goblet. Poured out a rich vibrant golden color. Minimal head, just a little foam clinging to the sides of the goblet. Smell is citrusy , orangey and lemony. Taste is a mellow orange lemon like flavor, and full hop bitterness to balance it out. Mouthfeel is quite effervescent, lively, and sparkly. Overall a perfect light hearted IPA to cool me down. This is my first and may be the only beer I’ve ever had brewed with satsumas. They don’t grow up north in Ohio where I’m from. So bonus points for originality and a new taste sensation.

Not a bad brew. Looks and smells great. Love the crisp mouthfeel and slight orange aftertaste. Not very hoppy for a supposed IPA and a little underwhelming, but a really good session beer. Honestly, I could drink a s**t ton of this stuff at one sitting and not feel too bloated. Drunk AF, but not bloated.

12 fl oz pull-tab can:

Candied orange. Overly sweet with a subpar hop profile.

Dat'Suma (now, from renamed Faubourg Brewing) has a medium, off-white head, and a translucent orange appearance, with bubbles and some lacing. The aroma is of faint orange and some white bread crust. The flavor is of white bread crust and some pithy bitterness. Dat'suma has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish.
