This Imperial Stout flows like octopus ink, dense, the color of midnight. It is rich and full of creamy dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavors. This is not grandpa's Stout. It is a modern brewer's creative interpretation of what and Imperial Stout should be.

As I remember had this beer at a Brewfest and it was listed as barrel aged. This may have been before major release with a name change to Blackfiskey which is the barrel aged version. All the beers I've had from this brewery were at Beer fests. The coffee flavor is mild and chocolate stronger or would have given it a lower rating. Had at least 4 years ago.

Inky black with a loose dark mocha head. Head is fairly persistent and leaves some nice streaky lacing. Aroma is dark roast with subtle coffee and smoke. Taste is coffee and bitter chocolate with a slight alcohol burn.

Big-ass 22oz bottle purchased at a local supermarket while out looking for KBS a couple months ago. I believe I paid around $5 for it. No freshness date as far as I can tell.
Poured into my mug club mug from Jones Radiator (RIP - thank you, Lucas for getting it to me), this was an inky black color with a massive, creamy and rocky tan head that made things look like a root beer float. Said head hung around a while and left lots of lace.
Slightly smoky, coffeeish dark malt aroma. Notes of molasses, soy sauce and a whiff of bandaids as well.
Dark malts dominated the taste, with a combination of coffee and sweet molasses hitting the taste buds., but in a more restrained manner than I expected. This tastes a bit like a cross between a RIS and an Irish Dry Stout. It's missing the dark fruit flavors one would expect to find. Cloaked in a thin layer of smokiness, it finishes drier than most big, boozy stouts. Incidentally, the booziness of this particular stout is well hidden.
Full bodies, with a mouthfeel both creamy and dry, if that makes any sense.
While most Ordnance beers have been to my liking, I've not always found them consistent. I'll give this another try in colder weather, but it's pretty drinkable now in 99° Spokane summer weather. What's a little odd is it's split between tasting like an Imperial and dry stout. I find I like it, but if I wanted a big, bitter RIS like Old Rasputin, I might be a little flummoxed. Maybe not what I expected, I still like it, and will try it again.

Black appearance with a very small light brown head. A very distinct coffee aroma. The taste is a very pleasannt coffee with a slight chocolate accent and a bitter after taste

From a growler: dense and black. Head dissipates pretty quickly. On the nose, a little bit of smoke and chocolate. Taste follows, fairly balanced with hops. The feel is smooth and surprisingly dry. The beer is tasty but not what I would expect from a typical rich sweet imperial stout. This one reminded me of the Fremont bonfire.

Was really impressed with this beer. Pours with an unexpected thickness that I got excited about. Hate thin stouts. Smells nice, some chocolate, bourbon. Like that there is no fruity taste with this. Just good old roasty, chocolate, some bourbon, some coffee, little smoke. Very enjoyable brew. Nice mouthfeel, right on for a stout. Price point was great too. Not the best BA stout you'll ever have, but definitely worth picking one up. Will be picking another one up soon.
