Obtained this can a while ago, as the date on the bottom read 5/2/17 with "MISS ME?" written above it. Sure, this was Sole Artisan when I got my hands on it but it still tasted fresh enough to feel like it was canned relatively recently. No sediment could be seen at the bottom of the liquid and it came out looking turbid and semi-dark, just as I would expect a beer with Simcoe to come across!
Quite a murky pour to this, even though the liquid itself didn't have anything large floating in it. Tons of fluffy head topped it off although the lacing left behind was quite thin and sparse, as there weren't any signs of rings on the side of my pint glass. Not a strong aroma but what was present was quite dank - herbs, deep pine. Simcoe, tropical fruit, and even a bit of piss in the mix. All of those were in the taste as this was quite heavy, with some grass and overripe citrus thrown in for good measure. Not strong in body, but full as there was some cracker evident underneath everything, which let the murky and dank flavors shine forth. A minty freshness lingered on the palate once this went down along with some honey and citrus sweetness that saved the proverbial day...
Not a lot of booze here as this didn't feel like an American Imperial IPA to me. If you're into Simcoe or IPA's that have hops without the burn and the potency of something heavy, then this would be a great brew to try. Outdoorsy and somewhat wild, there was a lot to like here, even after all of this time. Like any true beer nerd, I love the offerings in this series!

Had on-tap at Champs in State College, poured into a goblet
L: Hazy golden pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Solid ring of lacing.
S: Tropical fruit and citrus... smells like an IPA. A bit herbal.
T/F: Cracked grains and light malt backbone. Juicy tropical hop profile. Grapefruit, pineapple, and guava. For some reason I'm picking up some herbal/ginger character mid-swig and I'm not sure where that's coming from. Nice bitterness.... a little honey sweetness, oily on the tongue, and the finish is more citrus and fruit.
O: A solid DIPA. Great flavor... mostly what I'd expect from a juicy DIPA and I still can't figure out why I'm tasting ginger with it. Overall one I'd be happy to have again.
