A soft and delicate Zwickel-Pils fermented low and slow for many weeks and dosed with healthy additions of Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops. Incredibly balanced with floral nuances and layers of citrus along with earthy qualities from the noble hops. This is unfiltered Pilsner glory!

Clear gold with a tall white foam head that quickly drops to a thin blanket.
Taste is toasty corn, hay, cracker, popcorn, toasted sugar, and wheat.
Clean, but weird.

16 oz can from Tavour. Bright golden pour, foamy head, fades to ring. Grainy, fruity aroma, apples. Taste is big bold malts, bready with an edge of earthy, grassy hops. Very tasty stuff.

50cl can, no bb date.
Very pale yellow as per style, somewhat hazy too, although quite clear for a zwickel. Head is medium, but fades quickly, leaving behind medium minus lace.
Nose does have the grassy hops, and a bit of honey, with grain underneath. Just not quite enough of any of these. And there is some out of style tropical citrus, which even in moderate amounts masks everything else. What was the point here .. to pander to Joe Average expectations in US?
Same fault looms even larger in the taste. There is some nice pointers to honeyed malt and grassiness but a combination of citrus and watery body tips the scales towards a radler instead of pils. Irritating. Diluted soda mixed with a potentially good pils.
Either hackneyed or screwed up. Does not really matter. For people who do not like beer.

Not sure I know what a Zwicker-Pils is, or is supposed to be, but I enjoyed this with dinner on a hot summer evening. Hope I'm able to find it again someday.

Excellent pale yellow body; coarse and lively carbonation; decent head initially but quickly fades to a thin, fizzy and soapy layer; some lacing. Nicely balanced aroma comprised of cracker and pear; sweet grass. Outstanding flavor combination of light cereal grain, hop spiciness and a bit of ester character; excellent bitterness. Medium-light body; crisp and sharp; relatively dry overall.
Separatist have done a fine job of creating this balanced and flavorful take on a German pilsner (a Zwickelbier, to be precise). The can states it is "served unfiltered" but it's difficult to decipher whether the canned beer is also unfiltered or just what is served on tap. The only real criticism I have is a somewhat lackluster head, but otherwise this beer is a must try.
