Traded for this a while ago, as the date on the bottom of the can read 6/30/17 with 'MOCK YEAH ING YEAH" written on top of it. This had to be one of the weakest IPA's that I've had in quite some time, but most of that was because of the low amount of alcohol. If you took your time drinking this, you could feel the oats but this wasn't a heavy beer nor was there anything particularly noteworthy about it...
The pour to this was golden, a bit hazy, and topped off with plenty of foam that was reminiscent of Anchor Steam. The soapy suds took a while to settle, even though they were uneven, but there wasn't much of any lacing to be seen down the side of my pint glass once I started to sip this. Lots of oats, lemon zest, tangy citrus, and funky outdoors woodsiness in the muted aroma as the taste was full of those as well. This almost came across as a Farmhouse-type or Wild Ale because of the odd funk but the low amount of alcohol and fruitiness was enough to overcome any perceived spice. Somewhat slick, this went down easily but still needed a chaser of water at the end to get the last of the flavor off of my palate.
While not a session beer, it would have been easy to quaff another of these in a sitting since the alcohol was so low. More malt and carbonation would have been appreciated, along with a reclassification of this beer. As it was, it was more of a curiosity than anything else, and not among Sole / Separatist's best offerings...

Poured on-tap into a tulip at Champs in State College.
L: Clear light golden pour. 2 fingers of head leave nice lacing.
S: Citrus and tropical fruit. Juicy.
T/F: Crackery malts.... Juicy hops... grapefruit/lime, pineapple, grass, and apricot. Very mild tartness to go with the hops (not sour in any way). Fairly smooth (the oats coming through?), light and well carbonated. The finish is tropical fruit.
O: A nice easy-drinking (sessionable at 5.3%) yet flavorful IPA. My first SØLE beer and hopefully not my last.

Pours pale yellow with just a faint rim of foam. Smells ok- some grass, pine, lemon. Taste and feel is where this shines- abundant lemon, followed by pine, grass, herbal notes, and a hint of lime zest. Tropical fruit aroma and taste starts to develop as it sits and slightly warms. Feels crisp but leaves a thick juicy coating in the mouth with lingering bitter citrus. Solid follow up after being a bit disappointed by Fruity Dabs. Overall- drinkable yet full of flavor.

This one pours a mostly clear (what??) dark orange, with a very small head, and a slight bit of lacing.
This smells like orange marmalade, juice soaked grass, and slight malt.
This is super easy drinking, and has a really solid amount going on for the lower ABV. The oats give it a nice smoothness, but it does feel maybe a little thin. There's a nice sweet citrusy character to it, with just a hint of maltiness. It's well balanced, for sure.
This is kind of thin, but pretty crisp, with a good level of carbonation.
I haven't had too many SOLE beers, but I definitely want to try more.
