Very very thin tasting. Not on par with other top beers in this style.

Poured a black body with minimal head and lace ring. The aroma has some roasted cocoa and something akin to black cherry. Fuller-bodied beer that hides the booze and finishes a little dry; the roasted edge of the beer balances the black cherry/dark fruit sweetness and hints of cocoa. The balance is there and beer is good but not great.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short tan head that left lots of swirls of lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of black licorice and dark malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of black licorice and dark malts along with notes of roasted malts and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer packs in a good amount of aromas and flavors of licorice but does a very good job at masking the alcohol from the taste.
Serving type: growler

22 oz waxed capped bottle, into snifter. Purchased at the brewery 4 months ago
jet black in color, thick tan colored head that fades fast to just a thin ring. aroma is bitter bakers chocolate and a bit of roasty espresso. taste is similar, very dry finish. medium bodied, could be a bit thicker. smooth mouthfeel though.
overall pretty good but doesn't rise to the level that justified the $15 price tag. and I wish brewers would cool it with the wax dipped bottles. yeah it looks cool but it took me 5 minutes to open it.

I really liked this imperial stout. Classic 10% stout but crisp. Just well done. Thanks.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into Søle teku glass. I let it warm nearly to room temperature before pouring. It pours ink black with a foamy, medium-mocha colored head that dissipated quickly leaving only faint soapy lacing. The nose features roasted malt, cocoa nibs, caramel, and nuts. The taste is decidedly bitter with burnt coffee grounds, char, bakers chocolate, and nuts. While there's a hint of caramel at mid-sip, the finish is very bitter. I was surprised by the high level of carbonation - while the body is fairly viscous it lacks the creaminess of many stouts. It drinks below its 10% ABV. Although I enjoyed Atmospheric Black Metal, I found it to be a bit one dimensional in its flavor. It could stand a little more of the advertised cocoa. Overall, while it's somewhat bitter for casual drinking, t would pair nicely with with a hearty meal like pot roast and mashed potatoes.
