Brewed using rye malt for a spicy grain character with moderate hop additions using American hop varietals for a spicy, citrus flavor and aroma.
A hazy copper/amber colored appearance with spicy, pungently hoppy nose. Peppery spice flavors from the rye grains with a light caramel roast flavor. Dry, medium bodied ale with a moderate bitterness.
Grain Bill: NY Pale Malt, 2 Row Barley Malt, C-10 Malt, Rye Malt, and Chocolate Malt
Hops: Chinook in the boil for bittering, Cascade and Chinook in the whirlpool for flavor/aroma. Moderate dry hop of NY Chinook directly to fermenter.
IBU: 52
SRM: 12 (Medium Amber)

12oz bottle from brewery. Dark, dark amber, frothy tan head. Musty, sweet rye aroma. Taste feature light rye flavors, full feel. Something seems missing though...

This beer was sampled side-by-side with its variant beer "Rhiskey Business".
Dark amber (SRM 9-10) andslightly hazy, unlike its variant. Occasional rapid carbonation helps retain a long-lasting, inch and a half, antique white head that is lighter than its variant. The head is initially foamy, but quickly turns creamy, leaving thick, rocky lace coating on a double-walled, insulated Nolan snifter glass.
The aroma is that of floral hops with light rye and tons of sweet toffee. It is possible that I am detecting clove and a hint of spearmint and spruce. Warmth brings a strong hint of green tea and honey.
This beer is surprisingly bitter for its style, though the hop aromas do match its bitterness. The middle contains caramel, green tea and crackers while the long dry finish presents rye bread and mellows out the bitterness.
A medium body and soft, scratchy texture. Alcohol is as expected. Carbonation is light and prickly against the dry astringency found late in the finish.
This is a decent beer that definitely has the rye edges distinct to its style. It works well while relaxing and would be a good match for an afternoon ballgame.

Rye grains, nicely roasted, and hopped to perfection for Pale Ale. I give it 3.5 man buns and 1 neatly trimmed hipster beard!

Well balanced. My first and only beer from this brewery on a visit where I passed by. Solid, but not showy. They seem to be going for mass appeal, but haven't sold out the flavor and punch of the beer. Would I drive 10 miles off the interstate to try it again? Probably not. But if I needed somewhere to beer and eat, definitely I'd come back.
