Brewed to be light in color with a small addition of NY Concord Grape juice, which imparts a rose like color and a balanced fruit flavor and aroma. Fermented with ale yeast for a clean fermentation profile.
Strong aroma of berries and grapes with a slight wheat malt backbone. Starts juicy and tart with slight wheat bread notes. Finishes crisp and clean with an effervescent light mouthfeel.
Grain Bill: NY grown and malted barley, malted barley, and malted wheat
Hops: Chinook hops in the boil for bittering, New York Cascades added to whirlpool for flavor/aroma.
IBU: 15
SRM: Rose-Gold

Bottle purchased at The Swamp in Jamestown, NY.
This one pours a light purplish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like wheat, bread, and cheap wine.
This isn't horrible, but it's nothing you need to try, at all. It's a basic wheat beer with some basic grapey sweetness added to it. It's not all that different than War Horse Peace Bomber, which also wasn't that good.
This is light bodied, clean, and decently drinkable.
There's not much to like here. It's not actively bad, but it does nothing for me.

Interestingly, and perhaps not surprisingly, this beer has a purple hue while pouring. It is not to be confused with Barney or grape juice, but it is distinct nonetheless. That color becomes more dark amber and the purple is muted after filling a PBGC Unique pint glass. It is clear with a fine carbonation that forms a short-lived, off-white dense foam. A thick ring of lace is all that is left after a minute.
Grape Lakes definitely is reminiscent of a wine/beer cross. There are other aromas, but the red wine obscures their identity.
The flavor is surprisingly similar to wheat bread, with light grapes. The grapes are not that of wine or juice and I found it to be particularly interesting, given the aroma. This is more bitter than sweet. The finish is long and dry.
This has a medium to full body and is very creamy, akin to a whipped cream texture. The alcohol is as expected and the carbonation coats the mouth.
Grape Lakes is enjoyable and defies any style. I think it would be better served by a description of "fruited Red Ale". I imagine it could easily become a staple for relaxing or while watching a ballgame.
This brewer is very innovative with zero waste stream. Check out Timberfish online timberfishtech.com
