On tap at Irish Heather, Vancouver.
Honey gold with no real head. 3.5
Big banana and bread dough. 3.75
Breadiness, banana chip, mild clove and some orange rind. 3.75
Medium, chewy, round. 3.75
Not really a hopfenweisse, so disappointment there. Low clove, smartly, but there’s no grass to boost the US hop aroma. In the end the whole thing just cloys. Starting to think Russell is a very mediocre brewery… 3.75

pours kind of clear but clouds up once it collects, familiar hefeweizen coloration,
orangey carrot tones. has really interesting gravity. light foam head, lasts really well,
nose is a bit hoppy, has a taste like sweet bitter clementine, and a citrus hop resin.
refreshing and not off-putting leaves a citrus after taste like banana, medium mouthfeel,
not too sharp or carbonated, leaves a decent dryness, the hops are obvious throughout.
but in a familiar and enjoyable way, just instead of being in an IPA, its a hefeweizen.
I like it. interesting mixture of ideas.

650ml bomber poured into tulip 27/11/15
A cloudy orange liquid, enough clarity to see some tiny bubbles feeding a finger of foam that hangs around for a while but strangely leaves no lace,
S passion fruit, peach, sweet orange, purple candy, its hopped right up, some catty citra maybe even some kiwi hops? has some banana notes, some spice, bubblegum, and dry cereal but the hops are firmly in charge
T more "hefe" qualities than the tropical nose, don't get me wrong its still hopped right up but a little clove comes through with more cereals, solid but the nose has an edge
M soft and slick, has a bitter bite working for it, airy but stops short of foam, spruce and spice linger
O looks like I'm way above the average yet again, I thought this one had plenty going for it, smells great and drinks like a light brew even at 6%
I'm kinda wishing I would've tried this one when the hot sun was shining because it would work well in the heat, I'm a little surprised this one doesn't get a little more love from my fellow BA's

Appearance - Pours a cloudy gold with two fingers of foamy white head.
Smell - banana, clove, spices, yeast, citrus hops, hint of wheat.
Taste - Banana, clove, spices, yeast are at the forefront. The citrus hops and hint of wheat follow suit. Well balanced flavours. Its like having the best flavours of a hefeweizen with a white IPA combined into one.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with the spices lingering in the aftertaste.
Overall - A well balanced brew that showcases the bitterness from the hops alongside the traditional hefeweizen spices. Definitely worth a go if you are seeking the best flavours of a hefeweizen and white IPA.

a nice surprise . wasn't to sure what to expect . this beer is awesome . the smell is of freshly harvested hops and citrus and banana . once poured, the foamy head rises just right stopping an inch from the top of the mug and is in no hurry to disappear on you like some beers . with the first sip you right away get the hoppy , wheat , malty , taste . complexity begins to trickle down your throat leaving the slight hoppy after taste . balanced perfect , my opinion is this beer is up there with the world class beers . well done Russell brewing company .
