A collaboration a long time in the making, our pals from over at Mile 37 Craft Canning stopped by to brew up something a little dark and tropical. A traditional Black IPA with additions of Simcoe in the whirlpool, and a generous Sabro dry hop provoking big tropical notes of coconut, fresh lime leaves, and pineapple.

Appearance - Pours a chocolate cola with three fingers of frothy mocha tan head.
Smell - roasted malts, citrus, tropical, and hint of piney hops, pine resin, grapefruit and citrus peel, pineapple, peach, papaya, apricot, and earthy yeast.
Taste - roasted malts and hint of bold coffee bean upfront. The citrus, tropical, and hint of piney hops follow suit. The pine resin, grapefruit and citrus peel alongside the pineapple, peach, papaya, and apricot follow suit. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with all the elements lingering.
Overall - A unique twist the Black IPA style by adding elements of the New England IPA style in this. It worked out quite well as the roasted malts compete nicely with the tropical notes. A pleasant tipple on this overcast afternoon here in Cowtown.

Single 16 ounce can.
Pours a clear very dark brown with 2+ fingers of puffy light mocha head.
Pine resin up front on the nose, but followed quickly by softer notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit, pineapple, and just a hint of roasty coffee.
Tastes like an IPA with notes of pine, citrus hops, pineapple, but at the back end a touch of roasty malt, chocolate.
Medium mouthfeel - creamy - carbonation just a little lacking - leaving at the back a pleasant roastiness yet still the tropical hop bittersweet.
