Rolling out the dough, scraping out countless amounts of pumpkin guts and finding the perfect combination of spices, sounds fun right? If you're feeling lazy and all that makes you cringe, this milkshake IPA is for you. A smooth hazy IPA with a blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove and an addition of lactose come together to create this no effort needed pie in a can.

Russell Brewing 'Pumpkin Pie Milkshake IPA' @ 5.5% , served from a 4pack of 473 ml can's
A-pour is gold from the can to a hazy gold in the glass with a medium size white head leaving a fine spotty lace along the tulip
S-pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon , ginger , nutmeg & clove)
T-spices dominate this milkshake IPA , I get a pumpkin pie in the swallow
MF-ok carbonation , big medium body
Ov-wish I could have only bought one and not a 4pack

A pumpkin pie milkshake IPA - a first for me.

Appearance - Pours a pumpkin orange with three fingers of dense foamy off-white head.

Smell - citrus, tropical, and earthy hops, pumpkin, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, allspice, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - mild citrus, tropical, and earthy hops upfront. The brew then goes into strong notes of clove, and pumpkin puree. The other spices get lost in translation. The bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the pumpkin puree and clove lingering.

Overall - A brew that in hindsight was a good idea but didn't quite work exactly according to plan. The brew is dominated by the clove and pumpkin puree and loses that "milkshake ipa" element. I commend Russell for thinking outside the box and do what no other brewery has attempted. It is certainly worth a try for those that are curious.
