Nothing screams wintertime more than coconuts, don’t try to change our minds on this! Aged in Makers Mark barrels for 6 months, this Imperial stout was then condition on freshly toasted coconut for 2 weeks reminiscent of that classic snow day at the beach.

Opaque brown-black color. Poured a short brown head that collapsed to a thin skiff in half a minute. Too dark to see the carbonation level. No lacing.
Very light barnyard that quickly faded away. Light blend of light and dark roasted malt scents, with a hint of a charred malt. Some chocolate shows up. Swirling the glass kicked up something sweet, a stronger blend of malts, and a stronger hit of the barnyard that again quickly faded away. Overall this is much lighter smelling than expected.
Starts off with dark malt flavor and then a strong milky coconut flavor jumps in. The coconut is very distinct, and slightly fruity. Overall somewhat sweet, but some background bitters balance it out. The aftertaste is a some bitter chocolate that fades into the coconut. Slight bitter stays on.
Slow foam build up. Feels slightly creamy with coarse bubbles; possibly oily would be a better description than creamy. Heavy body.
This seems like more of a Porter than a Stout, but that might just be the coconut steering the flavor away from what I expect for a Stout. I would have given this a higher flavor rating if the coconut was dialed back. Interesting experiment.

Russell Brewing 'Barrel Aged Coconut Imperial Stout' @ 7.8% , served from a 473 ml can
A-pour is a dark cola brown from the can to a almost black in the glass with a small tan head dissipating into a minimal lace ring
S-Maker Mark barrel aging
T-sweet start , some smoothness , coconut mid swallow
MF-ok/mild carbonation , feels full bodied
Ov-good enough beer , no wow factor
