The Prohibition Act of 1917 put an end to alcohol consumption in British Columbia for 4 years, and quite frankly, was a real big downer. Thanks to the efforts of the newly formed BCLS, in 1921 the act was repealed and BC was declared a "wet" province once again. This pre-prohibition pilsner is brewed to style using ingredients commonly used during that time period including flaked corn and rice. Cheers and congratulations to the BCLS on their 100 year anniversary!

Clear pale yellow-straw color. Poured a medium head which collapsed to a patchy skiff in half a minute. Medium flow of mixed sized bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Left a few dots of lace.
Light sweet, fruity scent. Touch of pale malt and mild hops. Swirling the glass kicked up a stronger sweet fruit and light floral. Just a hint of barnyard for a few seconds.
The flavor is pale malt with strong floral hops. Seems to be a stronger bitter than the listed IBU 26. Just a hint of sweetness offsetting some of the bitterness. The aftertaste is much the same as it fades out, but the floral hops and bitterness hang a bit longer.
Very light tongue tingling as it expands to a coarse, thin foam. Fairly low carbonation that really faded away by the end of the glass.
Very good example of the style. One of the very few West Coast Pilsners that doesn't taste fishy or metallic or both. They are obviously doing more than simple pH correction of our acidic water before brewing.
